Manaslu is the eighth highest mountain in the world at 8,163 meters (26,781 feet ) above sea level. It’s located in the west-central part of Nepal, part of the Nepalese Himalayas, in the Mansiri Himal. Its name, which means”mountain of the soul”, comes from the Sanskrit term Manasa, meaning”intelligence” or”soul”.
Manaslu is the maximum summit in the Gorkha District and is located about 64 km (40 mi) east of Annapurna. The mountain’s long ridges and valley glaciers provide viable approaches from all directions, and culminate in a summit that towers steeply over its surrounding landscape, and is a dominant feature when seen from afar.
The Manaslu region offers many different options that are trekking. The favorite Manaslu Circuit Trek course of 177 km (110 mi), skirts the Manaslu massif over the pass down to Annapurna. The Nepalese Government allowed trekking of the circuit only. The trail follows an early route across the Burhi Gandak River. En route, 10 peaks over 6,500 meters (21,300 ft) are visible, including a few over 7,000 meters (23,000 feet ). The maximum point reached along the trek route is that the Larkya La at an altitude of 5,106 meters (16,752 feet ). As of May 2008, 297 times have been climbed.
The Manaslu Conservation Area was established with the objective of achieving sustainable and conservation management. The MCA declared as such in December 1998 under the National Parks and Wild Life Conservation Act, subsumes Manaslu inside.
Manaslu Himal, as it is known as trekkers, enables interaction and provides views of the mountains of the Himalayas. The route is prone to the consequences of landslides monsoon rain, and landfalls. Encounters with death hypothermia and altitude sickness, and yaks, are common.
